On September 22, 2009 a ban went into effect prohibiting certain flavors, to be added to cigarettes! This ban is in effect under the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, to help reduce the number of children starting to smoke. This ban only covers cigarettes at this time (excluding menthol). However the FDA is currently looking into options for regulating menthol cigerattes and other flavored tobacco.
